HOW TO BECOME A MUSLIM

Making the Declaration of Faith: A Guide for new converts

Making the declaration of faith is a momentous occasion in one’s life, and with the proper preparation and guidance, it can lead to a fulfilling and enriching spiritual journey.

One of the most important aspects of becoming a Muslim is making the declaration of faith, known as the Shahada. By proclaiming that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger, one enters the fold of Islam and begins a journey of faith, submission, and devotion to Allah.

While the Shahada can be made anywhere and at any time, it is recommended to do so in the presence of others and to make it a public announcement. If you are interested in making the declaration of faith in Nottingham, then please get in touch with us and we can help you.

However, before making the declaration of faith, there are three conditions that must be met in order to truly taste the sweetness of faith, as taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

To learn the Islamic teachings thoroughly, including the five daily prayers and giving of charity. Finding a teacher at your nearest Mosque can help guide you in your learning and understanding of Islam.
To have firm faith and a sincere desire to love, please, and obey Allah alone. Doubts and dithering should be avoided, and the heart should be filled with the love of Allah and His Messenger.
To submit to Islamic teachings and strive to become God-conscious is essential in moulding one’s character to become kind, forgiving, and patient.
The declaration of faith in Arabic: أشهد أنّ لا اله الا الله و أشهد أنّ محمدًا رسول الله

Transliteration: “Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-Allah.”

Translation: “I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

May Allah bless all those who seek His guidance and grace.

Prayers Timing

Abdullah asked the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) “Which deed is the dearest to Allah?” He replied, “To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 527).

Donate To Jamia Masjid Abu Bakr

All Praise is due to Allah that He has allowed us in Rotherham(South Yorkshire, UK) the ability to open and run a Masjid calling to that which He loves and is pleased with. Running and sustaining a Masjid is a difficult and strenuous task which your brothers and sisters in Islam have taken up.

The Masjid, being a non-profit organisation is financed mainly from donations. Public donations are very important to ensure the well-being of the Masjid in terms of meeting its operational costs and maintenance. We need your help financially to continue spreading the pure, untainted form of Islam. Our Masjid is a government registered charitable organisation.

We do not receive any funding apart from generous donations from persons such as yourselves and the success is with Allah. Jamia Masjid Abu Bakr was established by elders in the early 90’s. To date we have established a trustworthy Islamic centre which strictly adheres to the teachings of Qur’an and Sunnah. As a result the Masjid has committed and provided the following for the community:

For the last 2 years every person from the members of trustees, imam, and sound engineer has put in their time and efforts without any financial rewards and they have done this for the sake of Allah.
At current, the Masjid running costs (including paying off loans for building purchase) are £2150 a month. We receive a total of £400 a month via standard orders donations plus £1000 from jumu’ah donations. This means at the end of every month we are forced to find the remaining £750. A stable income by the permission of Allah will enable us to further plan and work in confidence as well as reduce our utility and maintenance costs.
